National honey board

The National Honey Board (NHB) is an industry-funded agriculture promotion group that works to educate brewers about the benefits and uses of honey through research, marketing and promotional programs. The Board’s work, funded by an assessment on domestic and imported honey, is designed to increase the awareness and usage of honey by consumers, the food service industry and food manufacturers. The 10-member-Board, appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, represents producers (beekeepers), packers, importers and a marketing cooperative.

NHB provides craft brewers with technical expertise, honey varietal education, formulation resources, market insights and innovation support to help create differentiated products and capitalize on growing consumer interest in authentic, natural ingredients. We also host the annual Honey Beer Competition (honeybeercompetition.com) and periodic Honey Beer Summit educational programs, offering brewers opportunities to showcase innovation, learn from industry experts and connect with peers exploring honey in brewing.
