Lessons Learned from a Technical Assistant
With the beer market tightening, costs escalating, and the growing urgency to address climate change, developing a proactive sustainability program is important to maximize profit and demonstrate values. There is no better time to enact meaningful change. Whether there is investment money in the bank or the only capital is time, any brewery can make small changes to optimize operations. Best of all, there is support for this journey through BetterBev and complementary programs.
Observed while providing technical assistance (TA) to craft beverage manufacturers as part of the BetterBev program, this presentation will cover tangible sustainability projects, innovative approaches to sustainability that are rarely adopted, and how to set priorities when developing or improving a sustainability program. Participants can expect inspiration to improve their operations, with specific steps to begin doing so. Topics to be covered include chillers, space heating and cooling, water, wastewater, side-streaming, hot water systems, compressed air systems, energy efficiency and procurement, packaging, chemicals and CIP, process gasses, ingredients, and culture.
